 Minutes from November 27, 2007 were approved with corrections.

 DISCUSSION AND ACTION PLAN ACTIVITY.

 Dave stated the need for our organization to change in 2008.  Darin Thomas presented a strategic plan.  Dave, Denise and Darin already worked on the plan.  It includes a strategic alliance with the Southeast Community Business Association.  The document is attached below with updates in red that happened after the January 10 meeting.  Part of the goal is to attract good leaders to our organization.  Grant writing is part of what needs to be done.    Lonnie mentioned the Future Cities and the Guilford Education Alliance and other organization.  Lots of general discussion.  Lloyd suggested that we have a common social.  Dave asked people to decide strategies and tasks to support the 5 goals.

2008 SE Guilford Community Association Strategic Plan

 The VISION of the SE Community Association  is to form an alliance with the Southeast Business Association called the “The Southeast Guilford County Alliance” and serve community interests in Southeast Guildford County.

The PURPOSE of the SE Community Association is to provide advocacy for community, education and business interests in the Southeast Guilford County.

The PURPOSE of the SE Community Association is to be the leading voice advocating community, education and business interests in the Southeast Guilford County.

The GOALS of the SE Community Association are to:

Become the community voice for all southeast Guilford County residents.

1.   Be the information hub for the Southeast Guilford County community.

Provide leadership necessary to have maximum influence regarding issues that impact the community.

2.   Engage the community to discuss issues that impact the community.

Promote community as a positive place to live and establish businesses.

3.   Provide leadership required to protect community interest

Impact political decision-making to protect the general welfare and interest of our community.   

4.   Proactively impact decision-making that best serves the general welfare and interest of the community.
