Welcome of guests – Wanda Sinane. Mr. Brandon was not able to make it to the meeting until we adjourned. Several of us spoke with him and he will attend our November 11, 2010 meeting.
Minutes from last meeting – Secretary Rogers not present, minutes will be presented at the next meeting.
FunFest - Tom Ammeter we already have one cooker for next year. Recommended having 1 person handle all volunteers. Haywood Stukes, the counselor from SEHS, coordinated the SEHS students that volunteered at the event. Four marines volunteered at the event. Need an assigned Gopher. Dan Rogers took the left over ice/food to Urban Ministries. Mike Johnston commented it was a good community event. Need more volunteers to allow breaks. Enjoyed the cars the most. Jennie McNamara – need signage to designate entrance of the event. Lonnie Baxley – survey the vendors at the event to get feed back on their experience at our event. Develop a survey and Lonnie will put it on Survey Monkey. Harold said that his wife suggested having the Chili Cook Off awards earlier, since the chili cookers arrive so early. Have golf carts available for shuttling people.
PART – Tom Ammeter – Dick Mearns setup a meeting 2 months ago with PART. PART to have informational meetings with Pleasant Garden Town Hall and at CIC church. Plan is to have drop point at the Pleasant Garden Town Hall or Community Center and the Food Lion. It will be $2 for a ride to downtown Greensboro and $1 for Seniors. And $1 to transfer to another bus. Working on the schedule and took information at the Fun Fest. PART will have a 6 month trial with the schedule starting November 1, 2010. There is a tentative schedule posted on the PART website with intermitted stops in Greensboro. There was an article in Sunday’s paper.
Walking Trails – Harold Garrett – Ball Park started working on the bridge and has not been worked on lately. Have the materials, just need the labor to complete the bridge, it’s just been a busy time for the volunteers.
1. Tom has talked with Haywood, who is trying to get with the Business Teachers regarding the project. Then will need to determine what type of project it will be 1) Student, 2) Group or 3) Senior Class Project. After he gets with the Business Teachers, will meet with Tom and Nanette to answer questions regarding the mail list. It was asked who is maintaining our mail lists – 1) Big One – no one, 2) Advisory – Dan?
Lonnie – Bill Bruce will give a presentation on the Woody Mill / Liberty Road Small Area Business Plan on Tuesday, November 9th from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm at the CCI church.
The Liberty Road section speed limit has dropped to 35 miles per hour.
Sue McElroy asked about the Forest Oaks Estates Sewer / Water issue. Harold spoke on the history of the issue. Harold would like to see the SEGCA support the community on the issue. Harold has contacted several people who are willing to go before the Guilford County Commissioners.
