1.
A moment of silence
was observed to honor the 9/11 victims and FOCC employee who died today.
2.
Bob read the vision/purpose/goals
for the benefit of the visitors. All
members introduced themselves.
3.
Dan Rogers submitted secretary’s minutes
from August 11, 2011.
4.
Rosemarie reported SEGCA checking balance
is $1,203.97.
5.
Bob reported that David Michaels has joined SEGCA
as an advisory member.
6.
Dan reported on the new SEGCA Facebook page.
Kim Novosad’s business is building Facebook pages for businesses.
Dan has initiated contact Kim and is awaiting her reply.
7.
Dan reported on the Liberty Road/Woody Mill Road
small area plan. The planning board
still is planning to present this to
the planning board in December .
8.
Lonnie reported that he attended
the Piedmont Transportation Summit
held at Grandover.
9.
Nan reported on Funfest
which will be held on October 8th.
Stage and Craft and Concessions areas are nearly complete.
Community groups will be able to have booths this year (along with
businesses. Nan asked for volunteer
commitment from all members and still is looking for Business sponsors.
10.
Lonnie reported that SE Baptist Church will
unveil a new sports field for younger
children on September 24 at 11 AM.
He also mentioned a mentoring opportunity.
11.
Bob asked Dan to write a check for the web
hosting service for $139.50
12.
Aaron reported on progress of the Woody Mill Road
overpass. The service road from Company
Mill to Minden Hill Road will be complete around October 15 and access to 421
will be removed after a temporary on ramp is completed.
Aaron also reported that a NC State Employee Credit Union and a Shoe Department store are
both opening near Wal-Mart.

Bob reported on SE Lifestyle which contains a
complete listing of businesses in SEBA.
14.
Bob reported construction is starting
on 13 units called The Villas at Forest Oaks.
15.
Tom reported on ways to recognize “Friend”,
“Partner” and “Leader” Funfest sponsors.
Rosemarie displayed some granite plaques.
The group gave Rosemarie permission to proceed.
16.
Bob reported on school redistricting.
School Board districts will be changing.
On August 30th there will be a public forum at Grimsley High
School. Nothing new has been
published about the possible site for the SE area elementary school on Lee
Street at the intersection of Causey Lake Road.
A public release of new school attendance zones and new Board of
Education voting districts may be published soon.

A slate of officers was submitted by the
nominating committee Tom, Jeffrey, Jean, Dan and Harold.

Motions Approved:
1.
Minutes from last
meeting were amended and approved.
2.
The slate of
officers/Board members were approved unanimously by the 14 Advisory members
present. The new officers will
assume responsibilities immediately.
